Being a life-long member of the oppressive Jewish patriarchy, I never gave much thought to the fashion implications of kippot. I've got a handful from various weddings and bar mitzvahs; my son has my wedding-day Bukharan kippah. For me, a kippah is a matter of observance and function, an innate part of Jewish identity.
